River Road’s Speckled Foam is exclusively used for making wings on dry flies. Speckled Foam is a great choice for anything from down wing flies like caddis, stoneflies, and hoppers to traditional mayflies and spinners. This material is also a great choice when you’re tying flies for heavily-pressured or exceptionally spooky fish in calm water.

A material that’s close to River Road’s Speckled Foam is Hareline’s No-Fray Winging Material. These are both synthetic foam-like materials that make great wings, but River Road’s Speckled Foam has a nice mottled look that tends to create more realistic patterns.
