Targeted Audience Design - The Mainstream fly line series from RIO is a line for the beginner/ intermediate angler. RIO designed the line with a short front taper to increase castability and fly turnover. Streamers - As a full sinking line, this version of the Mainstream is meant to be used when fishing streamers in either rivers or lakes. Because it’s a full sink, it can also be used for trolling with fly rods and deep water nymph fishing in lakes. The line’s short front taper helps anglers turn over larger flies and cast in windy conditions.
Cold/Moderate - This line is made to be used in a variety of conditions including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes almost any climate. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn’t meant to be used in high heat.
Short/ Powerful Front Taper - The Mainstream Full Sinking Line is a slightly heavier line for easier all-around performance. As a line that’s marketed to average and novice anglers, RIO made the Mainstream to cater to the widest range of casting styles possible.
