RIO’s Salmo/Steelhead line is a technical line built for the contemporary Steelhead/Salmon angler. The line’s taper encourages easy casting capabilities and efficient line mending during time on the water. It’s also a line that’s perfect for anglers swinging flies, roll casting, and single-hand Spey casting. This is a line that easily handles larger streamers but is refined for increased line control and easy accuracy at distance. If you’re an avid Steelheader or an enthusiastic Salmon angler who enjoys swinging flies, this is the line for you.
MaxCast, AgentX, ConnectCore - MaxCast is RIO’s hydrophobic fly line coating that helps this line repel water, shoot farther, and float higher. AgentX is a dual-layered fly line tech that basically means you’re getting a high-floating inner line layer and a durable, tough outer line layer. RIO has also added a special coating to the tip of the line that helps RIO InTouch Salmo/Steelhead sit high in the water column for improved performance. ConnectCore minimizes line stretch for ultimate sensitivity, control, and hook setting abilities.
Salmon, Steelhead, Swinging Flies - This is a line designed to meet the needs of the contemporary Steelhead and Salmon angler. The line’s long head makes mending and controlling a fly on the swing easy, and the short front taper encourages the easy turnover of common Steelhead/Salmon flies. The line’s rear weight distribution also makes it an ideal line for roll casting and single-handed Spey casts for those tough angling scenarios when you don’t have a ton of backcasting room.
Cold/Moderate - This line is made to be used in cold and moderate climates including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes, and almost any climate. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn’t meant to be used in high heat.
Long Head and Rear Taper - The WF8F version of this line has a 52’ head and a 210 grain 30’ head weight. The extra-long head and true-to-line-size design make this a phenomenal line for casting typical Salmon/Steelhead flies and mending line while swinging flies. The long front body creates a line that roll casts really well and can even perform some single-handed Spey casts while swinging flies. Add ConnectCore and it’s easy to see why this line is so sensitive and high-performing.
