If you’re an angler who targets big fish with a modern fast-action fly rod and articulated streamers, you’ve come to the right place. RIO’s InTouch Big Nasty Fly Line is built with a short, powerful taper to turn over big flies easily and to load fast-action rods quickly. The line is also heavier than the industry standard and features a low stretch core for ultimate big-fly performance. Whether you’re chasing Pike or Bass, this line partners well with streamer-specific rods like the Sage Payload or the T&T Exocett SS. If you're looking for a sink tip version of this line, check out the RIO InTouch Big Nasty Sink Tip Fly Line.

Features

ConnectCore, Extreme Slickness, AgentX - This line has some key features that set it apart from other streamer-style lines in the industry. RIO’s ConnectCore Technology offers low-stretch line performance so you’re always in direct contact with your fly. ConnectCore also makes hook sets easier and more successful. Extreme Slickness tech is a chemistry formulation that makes the Big Nasty ultra-slick AND dirt-repelling so your fly line shoots better and lasts longer. These lines also feature density compensation so you can always be sure your line floats (or sinks) evenly in the water.

Uses

Big Flies, Streamer-Style Line - This line is designed to cast large and heavy flies with exceptional ease. RIO created this line for Musky, Bass, Pike, and other predatory fish. It’s a line that makes throwing articulated streamers easy, even in windy environments. While it is a highly technical line, it can be used for a variety of species in freshwater. Add RIO’s ultra-low stretch core and you have a line that casts smoothly but also increases your chances of a solid strip set when a predatory fish eats.

Temp

Cold/Moderate - The line’s supple coldwater core enhances tangle-free performance. It’s a line that is made to be used in cold and moderate climates including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes, and almost any climate. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn’t meant to be used in high heat. According to RIO, this line is rated for temperatures between 35 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Taper/Weight

Short, Powerful Front Taper - The head length on the WF8F version of this line is 40’ with a 5’ front taper and a 5’ front body. The 30’ head weight is listed at 230 grains which means that it’s heavy for the AFFTA standard. By building a line with a short, aggressive front taper and a slightly heavier than normal first 30’, RIO has created a line that turns over large streamers easily and efficiently.
