The LP mount is a plate that joins that track to the T-track in your crossbar, so the carrier sits down on the bar instead of standing on a bracket. The mount itself adds about 5\/8 inch above the crossbar. Including the carrier's own extrusion, total added height is about 3 inches, against about 5 inches for the Standard Mount.
