Orvis Pro Power Taper Smooth Fly Line

The Pro Power Taper Smooth features the same taper and design as the textured version, with a smooth line design for anglers who prefer lines without texture. AST Plus Slickness - Orvis has built a number of important features into this line. AST Plus Slickness allows anglers to quickly shoot line with friction-minimizing performance. Welded loops on both ends allow easy leader/backing attachment. A braided multifilament core is strong and supple for versatility and durability.

Uses

Large Flies, Freshwater - The Pro Power Taper is built ½ size heavy to load fast-action rods quickly. The heavy taper is also optimal for easier turnover of heavier rigs including larger dry flies, nymph rigs, and streamers. This line also increases feedback, feel, and improves timing by loading rods deeper at all distances. Plus, a 50’ head adds versatility so this isn’t just a shooting-style line like others. The longer head encourages accuracy and loop stability when carrying a lot of line in the air at longer distances.

Temp

Cold/Moderate - This line is made to be used in cold and moderate climates including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes almost any climate. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn’t meant to be used in high heat.

Taper/Weight

Advanced Compound Taper - The taper of this line features an aggressive front taper and a big front belly that gives way to an extended rear belly and rear taper. Built a half-size heavy, this line works well for turning over heavy rigs at longer distances. The longer belly is also great for mending line on the water.
