The Mirage LT is exactly what we’ve been waiting for from Orvis. They paired down the Mirage USA reel (which is a great saltwater/big game reel) and made a reel that’s equally as capable but much more well-suited for freshwater fishing. The Mirage LT is built for Pike, Bass, Carp, and (of course) Trout. These reels are perfect for balancing lighter fly rods but still hold plenty of backing for larger freshwater targets. If you’re in the market for a quality freshwater reel you’ll love the Mirage LT.
Orvis Mirage Reimagined - Orvis made a few changes in the design of the old Mirage when designing the Mirage LT. The LT is 30% lighter, 30% narrower, and is made to fit on smaller rods (think trout fishing). That said, Orvis kept the durable drag system from the Mirage for solid performance on any freshwater fish plus a fully machined frame for increased durability.
Type II Anodizing - Type II anodizing keep the Mirage LT scratch-resistant and incredibly durable. Type II anodizing is commonly used on military-grade surfaces and enhances the lifetime of the Mirage LT without adding unneeded weight to the reel.
6061 T6 Aluminum - The Mirage LT is built with 6061 T6 Aluminum which has a few benefits. 6061 T6 is both abrasion-resistant and corrosion-resistant. If you happen to drop or ding your reel, 6061 T6 resists corrosion even when abraded. This type of aluminum is commonly used in aircraft and boat/automotive construction.
Disc Drag - The Mirage LT features a maintenance-free carbon and stainless steel disc drag system. The drag on the Mirage LT is a smaller version of the drag on the original Mirage but remains sealed and more than strong enough for Bass, Pike, Musky, or Carp.
Carbon and Stainless Steel- A fully-sealed carbon drag and fully-sealed stainless disc system mean this reel is ready for any environment. The stainless disc system makes this drag truly maintenance-free and it’s zero start-up inertia helps protect light tippet.
Large Arbor - The large arbor of the Mirage LT increases line pickup and helps anglers fight the largest freshwater fish. The diameter of the spool is approximately 2.1 inches which is solid for a trout reel.
Orvis Lifetime Warranty - The Orvis Lifetime Warranty covers all reels against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner. The warranty does not cover accidental breakage, breakage from abuse, or excessive wear and tear. As of September 2019, Orvis charges a $30 processing fee for all fly reels sent to be repaired/warrantied.
