    Orvis Mirage Fly Reel Reviews

Blowout pricing still not worth it.. Review by ryan

I have tried to convince myself that this reel would be an excellent buy, but it just feels cheap.
The drag felt pretty solid and smooth but the spool and frame felt weak and wobbly.
I tried looking at several different ones with the same results, the frame and spool would rub at different points with any tension.
I did not buy this reel.
    SUPERIOR REEL Review by Ira

I have the Mirage II and III paired with Helios2 5 and 6 wts. Rock solid and light weight perfectly balances the light weight H2 or any of the top end light weight rods. Close tolerances, quick spool changes, excellent retrieval rates match anything on the market and the drag is easily adjustable and will stop anything you can possibly fish for with a 5 or 6 wt. Machining and finish is excellent, although not quite as good as top end Abels, Bauers, Hatches or Galvans, but not by much. Then again, the Mirage is $125 - $350 less than those reels with similar, if not better performance. Finally, the Mirage just looks sexy. For the money, I don't think there's a better reel on the the market.
Solid Reel from the Orient Review by David

This is a solid reel significantly cheaper than other top-of-the-line reels. It will perform in everyway you ask, superd craftsmanship and design. The bottom-line issue with this reel is if can you stomach buying a reel made in Korea. I prefer American products supporting American jobs.
    Sick reel. Review by Trent

This reel is stylish, light and has a drag that could stop a small automobile. Honestly, its no Hatch reel but for half the price, its pretty rad. You won't have any regrets after purchasing this reel.
