The Orvis Clearwater Fly Reel is as functionally affordable as it gets. Built to fight the largest freshwater species, the Clearwater minimizes design and build cost without sacrificing performance. A stacked disc drag and an easily-adjusted drag knob make this reel ergonomically friendly and solidly dependable. Most fly reels on the market today feature unnecessary frills; the Clearwater provides the angler with the basic necessities to battle any fish.
Cast Design and Clearwater Affordability - Orvis’ Clearwater series has, for many years, been their entry-level offering. The Clearwater reel combines a die-cast reel design with powerful drag and a simple yet functional build to provide performance that doesn’t break the bank.
Powder-Coat Finish - The Clearwater has a stealthy matte-gray powder-coat finish that keeps the Clearwater strong and scuff-resistant. The Clearwater is susceptible to structural damage as a die-cast reel but the finish minimizes the effect of dings and scrapes.
Aluminum - The Clearwater is cast with durable aluminum to help the reel stand up to any freshwater fishing scenario.
Stacked Disc Drag - Like many fly reels today, the Clearwater has a stacked disc drag for functionality and strength. A stacked disc drag is strong enough to stop any freshwater fish and holds up to weather and wear.
Rulon-to-Stainless - Carbon and stainless steel make the Clearwater’s drag solid and maintenance-free. The drag maintains quality line-stopping capabilities and close to zero start-up inertia regardless of wear and hardcore use.
Large Arbor - The large arbor of the Clearwater increases line pickup and helps anglers fight the largest freshwater fish. Although the large arbor design of the Clearwater increases line pickup, there’s still plenty of room for backing to fight freshwater’s largest predators.
Orvis Lifetime Warranty - The Orvis Lifetime Warranty covers all reels against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner. The warranty does not cover accidental breakage, breakage from abuse, or excessive wear and tear. As of September 2019, Orvis charges a $30 processing fee for all fly reels sent to be repaired/warrantied.
