A great choice when using Euro Nymph or conventional nymph tactics, the Hot Bead Girdle Bug Jig Fly is a large nymph that fools trout all over the world. Taking design inspiration from Frank McGinnis’ famous Girdle Bug Nymph, the Hot Bead Girdle Bug Jig Fly has a simple design of rubber legs, a chenille body, a bead head, a small hotspot, and is tied on a jig hook that rides hook point up to prevent snags and hangs.

A buggy-looking fly with tons of movement, the Hot Bead Girdle Bug is a great imitation for large nymphs like stoneflies and even damselflies. The Hot Bead Girdle Bug is an effective choice just about any day of the year, especially late in spring whenever most large stoneflies begin to hatch. A straightforward fly to fish, the Hot Bead Girdle Bug works well under an indicator, Euro Nymphed, or dead drifted on a tight line, and with it’s jig hook, you can get into those tight spots without fear. Carry it in sizes 10-12, the Hot Bead Girdle Bug is sure to help you fool those fishing looking for a large meal.
