Intricate Bay Lodge is a truly remote, fly out Alaskan fishing lodge in the greater Bristol Bay Region. Don’t let the lodge’s remoteness fool you, however. Built with the finest attention to detail and run by a lodge staff that’s one of the best in Alaska, you’ll feel at home at IBL. The operation features the best planes, most professional guide team, and expert lodge staff. With a central location on Lake Iliamna, during your stay you’ll have access to miles of water from Katmai National Park to the Copper River and everywhere in between. If you’ve been itching to take that Alaskan trip of a lifetime, there are few programs better than Intricate Bay Lodge.
Lake Iliamna, Alaska - As a flyout lodge, IBL is located on a remote part of Lake Iliamna. Don’t expect to see any cars or trucks during your stay. That means travel details require a flight to Anchorage and a flight from Anchorage to the town of Iliamna. After you make it to Iliamna, the lodge’s floatplanes will pick you up and fly you out to the lodge.
Alaskan Fly Out Fishing - Each day, depending on your package and the time of year, anglers will fly out/boat out to a remote Alaskan fishery. The guide team uses a combination of jet boats and rafts depending on the location and the fishery. One day you’ll fly out to a remote river and float it in a raft, the next you’ll jet boat the Copper River, minutes from the lodge. Early June brings hungry post-spawn Rainbow Trout which are often caught on streamers or dry flies. July is great for Sockeye Salmon fishing as they enter the rivers and lakes from the ocean. In August, Salmon drop their eggs and the Rainbow Trout fishing is phenomenal. As you get later into the season (September) rainbow trout continue to feed off of the Salmon and start eating streamers again.

New, Luxurious, Comfortable - Intricate Bay Lodge is a boutique fly fishing lodge on the banks of Lake Iliamna in the heart of the finest Rainbow Trout fishing in the nation. The lodge is almost brand new (built in 2014) and features an array of amenities you’ll only find at the finest 5-star hotel. Seriously. The food is incredible, the accommodations are breathtaking, and the folks at IBL thought of everything in the building of their new lodge (even a wood-fired hot tub!). Leave your waders and fishing gear in the lodge’s state-of-the-art mudroom, shower before appetizers and dinner, and watch the sunset through the lodge’s wall of windows or from the expansive deck while enjoying a drink from the bar or a game of darts. This trip is as much about the accommodations as it is about fishing.
