Add irresistible movement into everything you tie with Hareline’s Life-Flex. This synthetic leg material is made from spandex and has an oval shape with a nice limp consistency, making it come to life in the water. Life-Flex is also UV-resistant, which prevents rotting like you may get with other rubber leg options and extends the life of your flies. An excellent addition to terrestrials, nymphs, and streamers, Life-Flex is easy to add anytime you’re looking to enhance movement, but its versatility doesn’t end there as it’s also a great material for wrapping segmented bodies. Life-Flex is made in a ton of different colors, so whether you’re tying something small and buggy to present to tailing bonefish, a stonefly to cast into your favorite trout riffle, or just a bluegill bug, this material is sure to help you find success.
Uses
Life-Flex is most commonly used as a legging material for nymphs, terrestrials, streamers, and crustaceans, however, it can also be wound to tie cleanly segmented bodies.
Comparisons
Hareline’s Loco Legs are another solid legging material, however, they don’t have the same composition as Life-Flex. Like many other synthetic legs, Loco Legs are a bit thicker and are made from a different material, which gives them a slightly different action in the water and can’t be used to wrap a clean body like Life-Flex can. Also, Loco Legs have flecks of contrasting color on them instead of being solid colors like Life-Flex. Both of these materials are great options when you want to enhance movement, but depending on what you’re imitating, one may be a better choice.
