Tailing bones to carp kicking up mud, Chicones Stealth Bead Chain is the perfect addition anytime you need a little bit of weight and a whole lot of stealth. Designed by Drew Chicone for fishing finicky flats fish that require a subtle presentation, these bead chain eyes are strung together for easy storing until you need a pair and come in two different sizes and a variety of dull colors. Chicones Stealth Bead Chain are great for both saltwater and freshwater pursuits and have just enough weight to invert small flies and add a slight jigging motion. A universal material that’s great for wary fish, Chicones Stealth Bead Chain is a great addition to anyone’s tying arsenal.

Uses

Chicones Stealth Bead Chain is most commonly used to add a subtle pair of eyes and a little weight to flies. A great alternative to dumbbell eyes when you want a subdued color and you don’t need the additional weight, these chain eyes will have your fly landing softly so as to not spook tough fish. Chicones Stealth Bead Chain can also be worked into most sized flies, but they’re a great choice whenever you need to invert small patterns like Gotchas and Crazy Charlies.

Comparisons

Bead Chain type eyes have been around for quite some time and have been used for things like permit and bonefish flies as well as trout and smallmouth streamers; however, there aren’t any that are quite as stealthy as Chicones Stealth Bead Chain. Though, one similar option is Hareline’s Bead Chain Eyes. These are also strung bead chain eyes, but they have a glossy finish without any of the dull and natural colors of Chicones Stealth Bead Chain. Both of these Bead Chain Eyes have their purpose, but when you need a more natural presentation or are planning to fish over highly-pressured fish, Chicones Stealth Bead Chain is the right choice.

Example Flies

Chicones Stealth Bead Chain is a material with nearly endless applications, and some of the most popular patterns that use these are from the man himself, Drew Chicone. Here are a couple:
