Hardy Perfect 1912 Fly Reel

Exquisite craftsmanship, an original look, the classic Click Check drag mechanism, Hardy’s updated 1912 Perfect Fly Reel brings modern function to a timeless piece of equipment. The original Perfect Fly Reels were made in 1912 and were produced for roughly five years, and today, Hardy has brought this sweet piece back into production. Equipped with the red agate line guard, classic narrow spool, and deep anodized gunmetal finish, this reel sports an elegant look that’s durable and has a top-shelf sound. Crafted in Alnwick, England in line weights 3-4 and 4-5, the Perfect 1912 is a great choice whenever you want to bring tradition to things like small brook trout streams and spring creeks.

Traditional Design w/ Narrow Spool - Hardy’s updated Perfect 1912 Reels were designed to pay homage to their original Perfect 1912 series. Doing this means that they have the same traditional design used in the past as well as the classic narrow spool, giving you a reel that looks fantastic and can stand up to long days on the water for decades. 

Finish 

Deep Anodized w/ Gunmetal Finish - Hardy crafts the 1912 with a deep anodized gunmetal finish. Not only does this finish give the high-quality appearance of the original, but it also provides excellent durability that will last for years and years.

Bar Stock Aluminum - Made out of high-quality bar stock aluminum, the Perfect 1912 Fly Reels have long-lasting durability with a modern weight, allowing them to handle tough days and years of tough use–this is one of those reels that will be passed down from generation to generation.  

Drag

Classic Click Check Drag System - Just like the original, the new 1912 Perfect Reels have Hardy’s Classic Click Check Drag System, which has roughly .5 pounds of drag pressure. This click-pawl drag is straightforward, easy to use, has a clean tension adjuster, and that classic Hardy sound that our ears just can’t get enough of. 

Arbor Size

Standard Arbor w/ Narrow Spool Design - Hardy’s Perfect 1912 Fly Reel was made in a very similar fashion to the original. This means that you won’t get the large arbor so commonly found on modern reels, as that would sacrifice the original integrity of this high-quality reel. Though, even with its standard arbor and narrow spool, you get solid line pickup that will work just fine all all freshwater applications that this reel was made for. 

Warranty

Cheeky Warranty - As of February 2024, Hardy’s Perfect 1912 Reel has a 5-year warranty (or the period of time mentioned in the leaflet that accompanies your reel packaging) that covers defects in material, craftsmanship, and design. If you encounter issues unrelated to Hardy’s manufacturing, Hardy will service your reel for a cost of $35 plus replacement parts–Hardy reserves the right to quote the cost of replacement parts on a case-by-case basis.
