Galvan Swing Fly Reel

A brand new offering from Galvan, their Swing Fly Reel blends that classic Spey appearance with all of the modern performance you need to tackle anything from chromed-out steel to freshly searun trout. Starting with a full cage design, the Swing is perfect for two-handed running lines and prevents any line slip, while the Galvan signature Grip Drag, Water Lock Hub, and high-quality 6061 Machined Aluminum all combine to give you a lightweight reel that can stand up to salty situations and stop any fish that you hook into. The Swing is a reel that’s as versatile as it is reliable across a wide range of different situations and water types, and with sizes starting at a 2-3 and ranging all the way to a 10+, Galvan sets you up for anything from small trout spey applications all the way to swinging for massive kings. 

 
Design
Lightweight Full Cage Design - The Swing Reel takes a spey-forward approach with the design and features a full cage build and a quality construction of T² Anodized 6061 machined aluminum. The full cage design prevents your line from slipping while also accommodating a wide variety of two-hand line styles. From there, Galvan introduces a mid-arbor and strategically utilizes a U-shaped spool for quick line retrieval as well as clean stacking when you’re putting your backing on the reel after that salmon just took a swift downstream run.

While the Swing Reel is built to perform, its solid-backed design merges with frontal porting, adding a traditional style that looks at home whether you’re swinging flies on the Cattaraugus or the Cascapedia.  

Finish
T² Anodizing - Galvan adds a T² anodized finish to their Swing Reels. This works to prevent corrosion, enhance durability, and allow you to fish with confidence in saltwater environments.

6061 Machined Aluminum - Using aircraft-grade 6061 machined aluminum for its construction, the Swing brings a lightweight feel that has all of the long-standing durability that you need to tackle years of time on the water in both fresh and saltwater situations. 

 
Drag
Grip Drag System w/ Water Lock Hub - The Swing Reel family utilizes Galvan’s Grip Drag System, which is Galvan’s signature drag that’s been relied upon for years. This sealed drag construction further locks water out with its Water Lock Hub, and its construction of high-quality materials keeps the power going for years to come. An ergonomic drag knob also makes for easy quick adjustments when a fish takes off and Galvan’s ЯRetrieve technology allows for simple switching between left and right-handed retrieves. 

 
Arbor Size
Mid Arbor - The Swing Reel features a mid arbor that’s in line with classic spey reels. This designs balances modern two-hand rods nicely while storing all of the backing that you need to wrangle strong fish.  

Warranty
Nautilus Warranty - As of February 2025, the Swing Reel is covered under Galvan’s lifetime warranty to the original owner. This warranty covers all parts and workmanship under normal use if purchased from an Authorized Galvan Dealer with proof of purchase or warranty registration. Galvan will repair or replace covered reels at no charge and may substitute discontinued models or parts with current versions, though, colors may vary. Non-warranty repairs start at $50 plus shipping, and Galvan reserves the right to decide whether to repair or replace any reel or spool under warranty.
