Scott Radian Fly Rod 1

Fast meets Feel. With the new Radian, Scott has achieved what was previous thought to be impossible: a fast, high-performance rod that retains all of the feel of your favorite trout rod. How did Scott do it? They used their new ReAct technology to increase recovery speed... a lot. By minimizing energy- sapping vibrations, ReAct creates fast action, high line speed rods with all the nuance and feel of a presentation rod.. Best of all, the Scott Radian is built in Montrose, Colorado.

ReAct technology - The Scott Radian uses ReAct - Scott's proprietary technology for reducing vibrations and increasing recovery speed. It does this by combining their X-Core design with new materials and tapers. The result is a rod that has extremely high performing, yet retains the feel that we're all looking for.

Fuji SiC Stripping Guides w/Titanium Frame - The best rods start with the best components and the Scott Radian is no different. Titanium guides are not only up to 65% lighter than stainless steel, they're also over 3 times stronger and totally saltwater safe. These guides are fitted with Silicon Carbide inserts that are diamond polished for reduced drag and improved casting performance.

Universal Guides - The Scott Radian comes standard with American made guides from Snake Brand that feature "radius feet" which conform to the blank, have incredible corrosion resistance, and a self-lubricating finish to shoot line farther.

Reel Seat

Single Uplocking w/Box Elder Insert - A great reel seat not only keeps your reel on, but it looks great to. Scott knows this and has built all Radian fly rods with beautiful custom reel seats and burled box elder spacers

Black anodized reel seat - Higher line weight models of the Radian combine their standard top grade Portuguese cork with a fully saltwater safe anodized aluminum reel seat.

Rod Tube

Aluminum Rod Tube - The Scott Radian comes with the same ultra-durable aluminum rod tube that comes with all Scott Rods. It will protect the rod against even the meanest baggage handlers.

Scott Lifetime Warranty - The Scott Radian, like all Scott fly rods, is covered by the Scott Lifetime Warranty, which covers the rod for the life of the original owner. As of July 2015, the cost of these repairs is $50 and the turnaround time is about 4 weeks. Rods must be registered within 30 days of purchase to qualify for the warranty.

Scott Radian Fly Rod Reviews

Hands down - this is the best rod I've ever fished with. It has an amazing feel, it throws into the wind with ease, and has awesome power. Very fun rod to fish with... You won't be disappointed with a RADIAN! Tight lines everyone!
A work of art.. Review by WC

I've been fishing a Redington CT for my entire, relatively short, fly fishing career, and it has served me well and is great for the price. But I decided it was time for me to treat myself to a high end tool of the trade. A new 9ft 5wt.
I actually took the time to try multiple rods, G Loomis, Winston, Sage, Orvis and finally a Scott; which was the last one I tested. The very first time I picked up the line and made a false cast, I knew the Scott was it. Not even a question. It just fit me. That might not be the same for everyone, and that's fine, but I found the rod that I will absolutely not have any doubt about shelling out that kind of money.
I feel even better about it, knowing that it's made in Montrose, CO, USA.
Fast rod that doesn't disappoint Review by Colt

I have the 9' for 5 line. This rod feels very stiff until you get out and fish and then you can see what the talk is about "fast meeting feel" statement from Scott.

This is the first Scott rod I have ever owned and at first I was skeptical about the rod but after fishing it for several days I can say this is my favorite rod in this size. I have found that if I am fishing 15-30 feet I rather have it overlined with rio grand or SA GPX, but anything over that distance the standard true 5 weight line works fantastic.

I would recommend this rod for anyone wanting a rod that can handle any trout fishing situation in medium to larger streams. It casts very well with dries, nymphs, and streamers well above average in all categories.

Superb beautiful rod!
Best rod on the rack Review by GCF

hands down my favorite rod. I've had the pleasure to cast some other high end rods in this same price range but nothing beats the radian. casting 20ft in my backyard has the same feel as casting 60 on the water. a stiff wyoming breeze is no problem at all. i can cast straight into a 30 mph wind without having to speed up or open up my cast at all compared to a calm day. the fit and finish is way above expectations right down the the hand inscriptions. This 6wt feels about the same weigh as my cheaper 4wt. was hesitant to believe the hype and drop the money on a rod i had never even seen in person but absolutely worth every penny.
scott fly rods are the best Review by David

I have fished a fly rod from every manufacturer and I am here to tell you that scott fly rods are hands down the best. The company and the attention to detail are second to none. The radian is the best casting fly rod I have casted. There is nothing I can say negative about the rod. It is a pleasure to cast and your confidence level will reach a new high.
Why Another Four Weight? Review by John E
Posted on 9/10/15
I already have three other four weights. I guess that they are my sweet spot for enjoyable fishing on the small lakes and rivers in my area.

I had held this rod in the shop, but when I received my 8’-6”4 wt Radian, I began to wonder if it filled a different niche than my other four weights. When my wife held this little rod she remarked, “It IS beautiful.” That sealed the deal for me. As described by others, it has a very slender shaft, is light as some three weights, ultra fast action, yet sensitive and accurate. It is a bit of a chameleon, being great with dries with a capability of light streamers and small nymphs. It also can handle a variety of four weight lines from Rio Trout LT DT, Rio Gold, Rio Grande, and adaptable to each with a slightly different personality. It also balances a variety of reels with ease.

I have read that the 8’-6” four weight versions of other fast action rods is the sweet spot of the series because they load quickly and handle wind more easily. That is true of this little rod in spades. It is just plain fun to fish.
A Rod to Grow Into Review by John E.
Posted on 7/20/15
This is my first Scott Rod, I wiggled a lot of nice rods and read a mountain of reviews, but this one really "spoke" to me. It is the most unique of the five wt nine foot rods that I handled. I debated between the 4 and 5 wt, but swing weight and feel was so similar I felt the five gave me more versatility as an all around rod. I am not an expert caster, but I can cast this rod as well as any that I have owned. I expect that with practice it will improve my game. It is beautifully designed and executed in the USA.
First Scott rod. Perfect rod. Review by Scott
Posted on 2/1/15
I've been using this rod for only two weeks now but it doesn't take too long to know when something is perfect. This is my only fast action rod so I can't compare it to any other fast rods. There may be better out there and maybe not, doesn't matter at this point to me because I am just too excited about the Radian. My other 5 weight is St. Croix 8' 6" medium action. It is a great rod but I needed some more reach for the lakes that I fish. The craftsmanship is top notch and looks fantastic but to be honest I've never seen a bad looking fly rod by any manufacturer. The un-sanded blanks gives it some character. As far as casting goes, I am not an expert caster but this rod is easier for me to double haul then my St Croix. I would even say that it helped me to perfect that cast to where I am very confident with my accuracy up to 60 feet. After 60 feet not so much but that's probably my problem and not too worried about it because I don't fish that long anyway. After about an hour lawn casting with this when I first got it I felt at ease with spending this much money on a rod. Now I am going to save up for a G2 4wt.
Just an awesome rod Review by Tom

I own two brand new Scott Rods that i have fished extensively. I have the Scott M in a 9 ft 5 wt and the radian in a 9ft 6wt. They are both my favorite rods of all time. The feel is exceptional and they cast like a dream particularly with the right fly line. They will cast a variety of lines BTW. The are beautiful to look at and wonderful to fish. I am sold on Scott. I have owned many other rods of every make you can name. All the big guns. I will be a Scott rod guy from now on. Oh I still use some of my other rods, at least until I decide to trade or sell them, but none beat the Scott in every category for me. The M is great for delivering dries and the Radian 6 wt will, believe it or not, deliver a dry at a distance as delicate as any. When they say fast meets feel they nailed it. As you can tell i am excited as all my other previous rods were good i was not as pleased overall with performance and feel as i ma now. I feel as thought i now know what a rod should feel like.
