Sage Approach Fly Rod 100

Whether you are a beginning fly angler, or seasoned caster, this is a fantastic rod to take your casting to the next level. Whether the water you're itching to try is a small stream or big river or saltwater, the Sage Approach fly rod line has you covered. With both 8'6” and 9' lengths in #5 for an all-around trout rod, 7' and 8'6” in #3 for quieter water, and sticks up to 9' #9 for anything from smallmouth bass to bonefish, there is a rod in this line for the fishing you want to do.

Sage calls the Approach a rod beginning casters can grow with, without ever letting you feel like you've outgrown it. They have taken their entry-level rod to an entirely new level, this time using the same graphite that made their XP rods famous. In designing these fly rods, Sage utilized this high-modulus graphite while keeping the action medium-fast. This makes the rod easy to load and cast for anglers at all levels of casting expertise. With legendary design and performance at this price, many are calling the Approach the best fly rod value on the market.

Sage Approach Fly Rod Reviews

3 Weight is a treat Review by BlackRiverMike

I bought a 3 weight this winter to use on bluegills this spring. It is a hoot and a half. It's enough rod to get poppers out, and is absolutely fresh when a fish is on. I worried that I would not be able to cast very far, but that has not been a problem. Great value.
Great rod for a budget Review by Josh

As i was looking for my first serious rod there was a lot to consider. But after a lot of homework and test casting i finally made my decision to buy a 9' 5wt . This is a rod that competes with a lot of other company's $400-$500 rod believe it or not. Its a rod that has a lot of backbone when you need it and a soft presentation when its called for. Great attention to detail all over. It would be a perfect starter rod for anyone starting as it is forgiving and easy to cast or great as a back up when on a trip. Only knock is when you need to cast 60+ feet it turns into a bit of a noodle, but keep in mind that its a $300 rod, not a Sage ONE. Overall a great rod and i wouldn't think twice about buying it again. Hope people find this helpful. Tight lines

This rod is great for beginners and those getting back into the sport of fly fishing. The price point wont break the bank and it is a dependable rod to have anywhere you find yourself. I'm pleased with my purchase and have caught many beautiful fish with it.
You Can Feel the Difference Review by David

I realize this is the most modestly priced rod from a top manufacturer, but there are still cheaper rods out there to buy. I received mine last night and had time to go to local pond and try casting for sun fish. Quality really makes a difference, I had tighter loops and further casts. The line sang through the guides. Worth the money. Will help me cast better.
