Sage 2200 Fly Reel Reviews

Built to perform Review by Todd

I'll keep it short, I'm not easy on my gear (who manages to tear a non-cork grip?)

But I can say that this reel has handled the abuse and still keeps on clicking. I have other reels that, while still "work" their performance has suffered, and then you factor in the cost you realize there's nothing better than an affordable, durable reel!
Great reel for the money Review by TenaciousP

I think this is a great reel for the money in the 2210. I use it for saltwater and the drag seems sealed well. I also have an older model 1810 and that still works well. The finish comes off a bit but the reel keeps working. The drag seems to have decent power, though I have never really stressed it. The sizes seem correct for the line weights listed.

It doesn't have that "high-end" feel but it performs well.
A True Large Arbor Review by David

I use this reel for bass fishing where a larger arbor size is more important than trout fishing. The larger arbor size truly does make a difference when it comes to fighting a tough fish like a bass or northern, especially when they make runs toward you and you need to reel in that slack line as fast as possible.

Also the numbered drag system is so useful. Instead of having to feel what you're drag is set to, just glance at the numbers and you have it set. This reel is a real bargain and performs as well as higher end models.

After 3 months of fishing Sage's 4210 in the Bahamas I returned home and ordered the 2250 for trout. My favorite feature is the drag, silky smooth with a numbered drag knob. I must include Trident in my review. I have been fly fishing for over 50 years. Trident rigs reels to the most exacting standards depending on your target species.
Great for the Price Review by rob

I upgraded from a 16 year old Orvis Clearwater and I love this reel. I put it on a 5Wt BVK and Fell in love.

The Drag does take some time to get used to but it rocks
