When it comes to fighting serious saltwater brutes, you need a rod that can hold its own, and while that’s a big part of fighting fast pelagic fish, another integral aspect is the rod’s castability. Let’s face it, casting a 12-weight fly rod all day is tough, especially when you’re dealing with a stiff rod–Epic solves this dilemma with their Studio Boca Grande Fly Rod. From their Studio Built series, the Boca Grande features state-of-the-art componentry like its Epic Alloy Reel Seat and 3x Titanium Stripper Guides with Japanese SiC inserts S2; the seafoam aqua color of the S2 FastGlass blank also screams class everywhere you take it. Designed in a 12-weight line option with an 8’ 6” length, this rod was made for tackling super tough fish–whether you’re chasing tarpon in excess of 100 pounds, offshore blackfin tuna, or geets that could tow a Civic, the Boca Grande gets the job done. And while this rod has the power you need to fight strong fish, its S2 Glass composition and medium action makes for solid casting that won’t tire you out. A joy to fish in any saltwater environment and a timeless look that won’t ever go out of style, the Boca Grande Fly Rod is a tool that you’ll love having for decades to come.

Blank

Graphite - Epic makes their Studio Boca Grande Rod out of a Unidirectional S2 Glass Composite. This high-quality glass is unlike traditional fiberglass and others on the market because it features a unidirectional fibre construction that orients the fibres longitudinally along the blank. This blank construction and the taper of the Studio FastGlass Rods makes for super smooth loading and all of the power that you need to fight those gnarly saltwater species.

Although the Boca Grande is a powerful rod designed to fight large fish, it has a look that’s just plain perfect. With its seafoam aqua color, this rod fits in perfectly with sandy flats, offshore bluewater, or deep drop-offs, and Japanese silk thread wraps and a three-coat epoxy finish add appeal and durability that you just won’t find in other 12-weight rods.

Guides

3x Titanium Stripping Guide w/ SiC  Rings - Ultra high-quality, the 3 x Titanium Stripping Guides with SiC Rings are an excellent complement to the Boca Grande Fly Rod. These guides are lightweight, super slick, durable, and rustproof, making them the perfect choice for this high-quality rod.

Dark Nickel Snake Brand Universal Snake Guides - Clean in appearance and ready for years of saltwater use, these Dark Nickel Snake Brand Guides are always ready to go. Built to be slick, lightweight, rustproof, and durable, these high-quality guides add excellent line shootability while standing up to whatever saltwater dilemma Mother Nature throws their way.

Reel Seat

Epic Alloy Reel Seat - Built to last for decades, Epic’s Alloy Reel Seat is as tough and light as it gets. This one-piece CNC machined reel seat boasts a triangular shape for a lightweight feel that’s easy to use, and it’s dual-uplocking construction ensures that your reel is safely in place no matter how big of a fish you’ve got on.

Rod Tube

Just like how the Studio FastGlass Rods are unlike any other fiberglass rod on the market, so is their rod tube. Taking an unconventional yet genius approach to their rod tube design, the Studio Glass Rods come housed in an Epic Tube, which is made from a super durable fiberglass and doesn’t have a screw cap, but instead has a ferruled top that doesn’t get lost and won’t wear out over time. And if durability and a cool look aren’t enough, by some happy accident, this rod tube’s end cap perfectly fits the contents of a 12oz beer…should you find yourself in a jam and need something to hold a pour.

Warranty

As of July 2022, Epic’s Studio FastGlass Rods are covered by their Epic Warranty. This lifetime warranty covers failure due to defects in workmanship and/or materials. The Epic Warranty is limited to repair or replacement of the rod, at Epic’s option, and it does not cover direct, incidental, indirect, or consequential damage as well as theft, loss, intentional breakage, fire damage, or modification/customization to the rod.
