With their DXF 2 Fly Rod, Douglas builds on their long-favored DXF family of rods and brings an improved version that’s ready for anything from slinging articulated streamers to accurately dropping your parachute in front of a rising snout. A complete redesign, the DXF 2 starts with medium-fast action on a multi-modulus blank that brings excellent accuracy, minimal tip dampening, and a great feel. From there, the DXF 2 incorporates quality features like its keyed reel seat and stainless guides. A great deal in that mid-price category, the DXF 2 is built in line weights 4 through 8, providing an option whether you’re casting hoppers on the opposing bank or even stripping a Gotcha through a school of tailing bones.
Blank
Multi-Modulus Graphite - The DXF 2 is built on a Multi-Modulus Graphite blank and features a medium-fast action. This action isn’t quite as fast as the original DXF and it provides just a bit more feel and feedback while also increasing the overall sensitivity of the rod. This blank construction makes for minimal tip dampening and excellent accuracy across a range of distances.
The freshwater iterations of the DXF 2 sport an emerald green flaked color while the saltwater options are made in a brilliant blue flaked color. Both of these have a clean look and blend into the waters around them quite nicely.
Reel Seat
Self-Aligning Reel Seat w/ Dual Rings and Nylatron Inserts - Built around convenience and performance, the DXF 2 has a keyed reel seat featuring a stable band that doesn’t move. This reel seat setup makes your life easier, and the Nylatron inserts ensure that things are nice and smooth while keeping your reel locked in no matter what’s pulling your line.
Rod Tube
Packaged in a Cordura rod tube with a cloth sock, Douglas gives your rod a safe place to rest whether it’s in your rod closet or in the overhead storage en route to the White River
Warranty
As of July 2024, Douglas covers their ERA series of rods under their lifetime warranty. This warranty lasts for the lifetime of the original rod owner and offers a no-fault full replacement for the cost of $45 per damaged section plus a shipping fee of $20 per order.
