Cortland’s Liquid Crystal Series of lines is a collection of fly lines built for the hardcore tropical saltwater angler. The Tarpon Taper offers unparalleled versatility for anglers chasing the Silver King in almost any scenario. Whether you’re shooting line quickly at cruising fish or need a line that lands delicately when targeting laid up fish, this taper truly does it all. Plus, like other lines in this series, it comes in two different line colors so you can choose a clear line for extra stealth on the water.
Welded Loops, High Floating Coating - Cortland has built a few different features into this line to keep it simple and functional on the water. The line is designed to float high in the water with a coating that also improves casting capabilities. Loops at both ends allow anglers to easily attach leaders and backing so you can focus on the fishing instead of the rigging. The line also comes in a Sky Blue color or a fully clear line color so you can choose visibility or stealth.
Tarpon in a Variety of Conditions - This is a multi-dimensional line that allows anglers to throw larger flies and make quick shots or carry a lot of line in the air. The taper encourages delicate presentations when casting at laid up Tarpon with its long rear taper. The short, aggressive taper, however, also helps anglers punch through the wind and cast bulky Tarpon flies. This line is ideal for the serious Tarpon angler who needs a line that does multiple things well.
Warm/Tropical - This line’s hard tropic coating and monofilament core mean that it’s designed for tropical climates. This is a line that won’t get sticky in high heat when coiled up on a boat deck or in warm water. That being said, this line will shrivel and won’t cast well when used in cold water or colder climates.
Versatile Tarpon Taper - While this line has a taper that’s designed for Tarpon, it’s also a taper that has increased versatility. The short, aggressive front taper (3 feet) allows anglers to turn over large flies or make quick shots at cruising fish. The long back taper (31 feet) also encourages enhanced performance when carrying the line in the air. It’s the best of both worlds. Like other lines in this series, the Tarpon Taper is true-to-lineweight so the WF10F version has a 30’ head weight of 280 grains.
