The Corn Fed Caddis is a chunky, high-floating Caddis imitation tied with a thick, full CDC wing for max floatability. The CDC-based design means this Caddis lands slightly softer than a traditional deer hair fly and maintains a more lifelike profile on the water when targeting trout feeding on top. As such, it’s a great pattern for tailwater fisheries, spring creeks, and other rivers where the water is low or clear (or both). The fly is also stacked with a hydrophobic poly yarn overwing for even more floatation. Use this pattern in the western US, New Zealand, and anywhere Caddisflies hatch in droves. The larger sizes work well as a dry-dropper setup and the smaller sizes fool fish that are more likely to eat small, single dry flies.
