In my short time in the industry, I can’t say that there’s ever been a more anticipated rod release than the Scott G-Series. Scott is truly at the top of their game – it seems like they are more in demand than ever! The G-Series (also known as the GS) replaces the G2 as Scott’s medium action, dry fly line of rods. It’s like the heart and soul of the Scott lineup.
We had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with the brand new Scott Meridian fly rod starting way back in the days when it was secretly known as “Project S”. Scott has dubbed it as a softer rod with a faster recovery. It does that and then some.
Following the success of our 8-weight reel challenge, we wanted to take on fly rods. Magazines, fly shops, bloggers… virtually everyone has an opinion on which fly rod is best. So, we decided to join the crowd. But, in typical Trident fashion, we’re going to take a different twist on the traditional fly rod review. As always, this shootout will be completely data driven, and we’re going to give you better and more objective results than you’ve seen anywhere else.
