Hardy Zenith Fly Rod - DISCONTINUED

The Hardy Zenith has been discontinued.

It has been replaced by the EVEN BETTER Hardy Zephrus FWS. Check it out here.

Hardy Zenith Rod

Ben's go to trout rod! The Hardy Zenith stands out across the lineup winning awards in many different line weights. After spending years developing their new Sintrix resin, Hardy has made one of the finest and most accurate trout rods ever created. Choose the 10' 3-weight for European style nymphing, the 9' 5-weight for an all-around trout rod, and the 8'6" 4-weight for more technical presentations.

Sintrix 440 - Designed in conjuction with 3M, the Hardy Zenith is built with Hardy's proprietary Sintrix 440 Resin. Hardy spent two years working with specialist composite engineers and rod designers to acheive the perfect blend of 3M nano-silica resins to develop a new way to build graphite rods. The result: a fly rod that is much stronger and lighter than previously thought possible.

Fuji SiC Stripping Guides w/Titanium Frame - Titanium guides are not only 45-65% lighter than stainless, they're also over 3 times stronger and totally corrosion resistant. These guides are fitted with Silicon Carbide inserts for reduced drag and improved casting performance.

Titanium REC Recoil Guides - RECOIL guides are made from an extremely hard but flexible "Shape Memory" nickel titanium alloy, which is not only extremely corrosion resistant, but returns to its original shape after repeated deformations.

Reel Seat

Dual Uplocking - Nothing is more important than keeping your reel attached to the rod. Hardy knows this and has built all Zenith models with a dual uplocking reel seat which keeps your reel secure.

Maple burlwood and Carbon Fiber spacers - The Zenith received a big cosmetic upgrade in 2014 in the form of a new reel seat and updated finishing touches. Zenith models now come standard with a Maple burlwood spacer on Reversed Half-Wells models and a carbon spacer on Full Wells models. We no longer have any Zeniths with the old style skeletal reel seat.

Rod Tube

Black Aluminum Rod Tube w/cloth cover - Hardy didn't cut any corners here. The Zenith comes with a top of the line rod tube AND a cloth cover so it doesn't get banged up by the baggage handlers.

Worldwide Extended Warranty - The Zenith is covered by Hardy's Worldwide Extended Warranty, which covers the rod for the life of the original owner. Please contact Hardy directly for updated costs and turnaround times.

Hardy Zenith Fly Rod - DISCONTINUED Reviews

Simply the best rod in the rod! Review by Salem

This fishing rod is a total success : accuracy, distance, speed. Almost forgotten feelings came back to me with this beautiful 9' wt5. A sober look that I like! For delicacy, nothing to say! fishing rod works perfectly with leaders in 10/100. An extra reserve of power which also allows control of very large fish. No wonder this fishing rod makes a splash around the world. During my last visit in the British Isles, all fishers and guides spoke only about this fishing rod. No doubt it will remain all the time in my car. Besides, as I go on vacation in California this summer (I live in France), I will immediately put it in my suitcase!

Only been able to take it out a few times but casts like a dream. Very lightweight but strong, rod is just beautiful. Glad I found your website, very helpful customer service!
9ft 4wt my new favorite rod Review by james

This rod is awesome! It is very good for fishing midges or small drys that require delicate presentations but handles a weighted double nymph set up with ease. Great customer service at Trident also.

Had no trouble chucking line way out and great action for tight roll casts. Action makes even the little guys feel like monsters. Couldn't be happier with the light weight and comfort the rod provides. Allows very accurate casting and strong enough to cut against the wind.
Excellent fly rod Review by Griff

Casting at all (reasonable) distances is very good. Timing is key on short precise casts but not overly difficult. Feedback from the rod is superb. Recently fished 7 rivers in Wyoming using my 3 and 5 weights. The three weight handled a 22 inch rainbow and the 5 weight can handle smaller streamers with ease. Both can roll cast extremely well. Not totally in love with the ferrul style but performance is truly exceptional.
Incredibly Versatile 5 wt. Rod Review by Richard

The Hardy Zenith 9' 5wt. is an incredible rod. Very versatile for a 5 wt. It does seem more like a 6 wt. than a 5 wt., though. In fact, the flex of the rod is very similar to the R.L. Winston BIIIx 9' 6 wt., which is my go to rod. The Hardy Artisan seems more like a true 5 wt. rod to me, and is also a remarkable rod. But the Zenith is probably a little more versatile than the Artisan. You can't go wrong with this rod.
Great rod from a great shop Review by Adam

Really a wonderful rod. Easily the best I have ever used. To add to that, my wife actually ordered this for me as gift and the service that Trident provided her was unmatched.
Believe the hype! Review by Jared

Absolutely the best rod I've used! I've had Sage, I've used Winston, but this rod can handle anything you can put it through with ease while being delicate enough for those soft presentations next to that rock where that monster is hiding. I'm not the greatest caster but this thing makes it easy. Whether it's a 15 foot cast or a 70 foot cast it does it perfectly. All without losing the feel you would expect to lose on a rod that can cast that distance. My buddy has a Winston that I have used but the Zenith to me is just a more comfortable and easier rod to use. I may have to buy another one before Hardy gets smart and raises the price!
