Whether you are a beginning fly angler, or seasoned caster, this is a fantastic rod to take your casting to the next level.
Whether the water you're itching to try is a small stream or big river or saltwater, the Sage
Approach fly rod line has you covered. With both 8'6” and 9' lengths in #5 for an all-around trout rod,
7' and 8'6” in #3 for quieter water, and sticks up to 9' #9 for anything from smallmouth bass to
bonefish, there is a rod in this line for the fishing you want to do.
Sage calls the Approach a rod beginning casters can grow with, without ever letting you feel
like you've outgrown it. They have taken their entry-level rod to an entirely new level, this time
using the same graphite that made their XP rods famous. In designing these fly rods, Sage
utilized this high-modulus graphite while keeping the action medium-fast. This makes the rod
easy to load and cast for anglers at all levels of casting expertise. With legendary design and
performance at this price, many are calling the Approach the best fly rod value on the market.
I realize this is the most modestly priced rod from a top manufacturer, but there are still cheaper rods out there to buy. I received mine last night and had time to go to local pond and try casting for sun fish. Quality really makes a difference, I had tighter loops and further casts. The line sang through the guides. Worth the money. Will help me cast better. Posted on 7/30/13
