Orvis Superfine Touch Fly Rod Reviews

Small and Mtn Streams...nothing better Review by Joe

Not sure why the first reviewer had nothing but positive comments, but only gave this rod 2 stars.

Nonetheless, this rod is hands-down the best small water rod I have ever owned. I purchased the 6'6" 3 wt, for I almost exclusively use this rod fishing the Blue Ridge Mts in Virginia, where short casts are needed and brush and trees overhang everywhere...while the shorter rod does not allow for czech nymphing as well, but given the close quarters and limited casting space, I think it works more than fine.

I have a slower cast to start, so the full flex is an absolute joy to cast. The 3wt is about a light as a pencil and casts small and larger dries, wets, nymphs and smaller streamers with little to no effort.

For seasoned anglers and novices, this rod can make anyone look like a FFF Certified Casting Instructor.

I'm not as much in to the aesthetics of the rod, but it looks equally as beautiful as it performs.

This is the only 3 wt I've owned, so cannot compare to other brands/models, but I would be hard-pressed to ever fish anything else.

Great job Orvis...amazing rod.

Love this rod for small to medium streams in the Adirondacks. It has enough backbone to horse in that surprise slob you hook into and enough finesse to lay that size 22 blue midge right where you want it!
